twitter tic tac toe vs. mavs

During a Sixers regular season games against the Dallas Mavericks, one of the baskets was lopsided and needed to be replaced. The whole process took around ~45 minutes to bring in a new basket, wait for both teams to warm up again, etc. To pass the time, I challenged the Mavs twitter to a game of tic tac toe. This was a nationally televised game and the tic-tac-toe was picked up by the ESPN broadcast.

almost friday

This post was based on an account (@friday.beers)  that takes “iconic” photos in pop culture and posts them every Thursday with the script writing “Almost Friday” over the pictures. I wanted to do the same but with our branding guidelines using a couple of classic and historic Sixers photos. This post accumulated much higher engagement than our average Instagram posts and even caught the attention of the friday.beers account as well as their ancillary account (@almost.friday) with both accounts leaving comments on the post.

graphic design samples

Although not directly related to my senior year internship with the UNC Athletic Department, I was enrolled in an Intro to Graphic Design class my second semester of senior year in hopes of sharpening my skills in Adobe Suite. Here are two of the projects I created in the class using Photoshop and Illustrator. With these, I was able to practice player cutouts, layering, texturizing and more.

sixers tiktoks

One of my responsibilities with the Sixers is ideating and creating TikToks for the team account. Currently, like a lot of sports leagues, the NBA is in a legal battle with music companies over copyrighted songs so the trick is figuring out how to utilize popular TikTok sounds and trends that don’t include any copyrighted music in them. Here are a few examples:

world mental health day

My favorite social project I worked on during my time with the Royals was this post for World Mental Health Day. I came up with the idea of hiding a bunch of positive messages in different graphics so the text wouldn’t be visible until you clicked on them. I also wrote all the messages and it was so rewarding to see my words actually helping people and making an impact in the comments/ quote tweets.

sponsored content

Sports teams faced many obstacles in 2020, one of which was ensuring their sponsors were given the exposure they paid for, despite the team not being able to play. As a part of the Royals social department, I was assigned the duty of ideating sponsored “quarantine content” and working closely with the creative department to see these ideas to fruition. The posts served a dual purpose of integrating sponsors as well as spark fan interaction. Here are a few examples:
